I'm Guillaume Noël-Martel and this is a simple gallery of various little projects I've done or partook in. You can also check out my github.
My sister makes awesome prints and I lent her a hand to get a gallery online. Since this was also mostly static content, I used an extended version of the workflow I setup for the Nifty Fifty gallery - This is also a makefile that generates the static files, with a bit of Etsy API integration to keep the boutique updated.
Roller Coaster Tycoon is a very old love of mine, and sometimes really neat user scenarios are posted on its' subreddit. I've been playing through the scenarios that /u/ocalhoun's released so far for his Nifty Fifty scenario pack: Since it was a little hard to hunt them down, figured it'd be nice to have a gallery with all of them.
In contrast with this page, I wanted to work with a much simpler toolchain. Everything is built through make, and the final client is only an html file with some css.
A playable remake of my first Ludum Dare entry. A simple game about making your god happy by doing things that mostly consist of making babies and building bridges. I had intended to redo the whole game for a long time because the original codebase was a true mess. Includes a usable interface, new features and some balance adjustments. This was made in Javascript using PixiJS and the app is essentially a bundled version of that.
The last bastion of hope for this small world.
It must be protected at all costs! Alas, hordes of monsters creep in the shadows…
Follow franctically behind the Crustal as it wobbles along, and try to survive as long as possible. Move with arrow keys and shoot with wasd.
The game’s written in Lua, running on Löve. It was made in a whirlwind of a weekend where I showed up at Frédéric-Antoine Gingras's place in Toronto on a friday and didn't see the sun until I had to go on sunday. Programming was done by both of us and the assets were mostly done by me.
Back when I started university, there was one game that was played every day at the student association: The card game Bang! Because I was curious about writing a card game engine and because I thought it'd be "trivial" (spoilers: it was not), I made one from scratch in node using socket.io and express.js. The server should fully support the vanilla Bang! rules and cards. The client renders using only html and css with a bit of Javascript.
Prepare.... for a descent into MADNESS
You have 10 seconds... or so it would seem, to find enlightment in the dungeon...
But something feels weird... you don't feel quite right in the head. Your light dims out, your heart beats faster...
this is 10 Seconds to Insanity.
The game was by far the most ambitious we had worked on up to that point during a Ludum Dare; it features an isometric view, randomly generated dungeons, a whopping 64 frames of animation for the main character, creepy music and sound! Coding-wise this was Java with Slick2D. Coding was done by me and Frédéric-Antoine Gingras. Graphics were done by Myriam Noël-Martel. Music is by Édouard Blain-Noël.
The first project I made in a team with Frédéric-Antoine Gingras. Essentially, the game is about maintaining a factory as you are required to transform products by passing them through multiple machines and pipes. This was made using Java and Slick2D.
My first ever Ludum Dare and proper game! The aim was to make a sort of reverse god game, where the goal is to make your god happy. In practice it's essentially a cookie-clicker type affair. There are two versions: the original LD release with all assets made by me, and a post-LD version with much better graphics that were made by Myriam Noël-Martel. This was programmed in C# using XNA and might be the most horrendous codebase I've ever made.
A truly ancient little project I made around christmas 2009 with Myriam Noël-Martel. This was back before I had learnt to program and is made using events in RPG Maker XP. It's sort of a horrendous top down shooter. Sadly I don't even have the source project for it anymore. You might notice the lack of a first Cossin Lette; alas it has been lost to the ages, although there are rumors a third one is in the works
